Our Story
OUR JOURNEY.
Born from our original brand Oowee Diner in 2018, Oowee Vegan was the first of its kind in the UK. A vegan fast-food restaurant serving an extensive menu of exclusively vegan, Beef & Chicken Burgers, Dirty Fries, Shakes and Delicious Sides.
Myself (Charlie) and business partner, Verity set up Oowee Diner in 2016 on Picton Street, Bristol, our quiet local neighbourhood. The ethos of the Oowee we created, which continues to be our ethos now, was to create our perfect fast food menu that we dreamed of eating, using the best quality ingredients which was accessible to all.
From day one our little Picton Street Diner had extensive vegan and vegetarian offerings, ahead of anyone else in the market. This was the start of our momentum in gaining a loyal following from the vegan and vegetarian community in Bristol and beyond. When we opened our second Oowee Diner restaurant in 2017 we evolved this menu further and developed our first fried seitan ‘chicken’ burger. An instant success amongst the vegan and vegetarian community!
Eating our first fried seitan ‘chicken’ burger in our bun, with our sauces and condiments blew our minds, it was delicious. The excitement around this first burger got us remaking our whole menu at Oowee Diner in plant based form, and thus Oowee Vegan was born in Baldwin Street, Bristol in 2018.
The initial success in our little Picton Street Diner, and our quest for delicious fast food which is accessible to all really did give us a platform, supported by a local following to build the business we have today.
OUR MISSION NOW.
Our mission with Oowee Vegan is clear. “We want to create a menu that hits on flavour so hard that it’s considered up there with the best, not just compared to vegan food, but with burger restaurants full stop.” We want people to see us as one of their favourite burger spots regardless of what diet they categorise themselves into.
How do we do this?
INNOVATION.
We are at the forefront of plant based innovation. We work closely with all of the leaders in plant based. We ensure we are the first to know about all new developments and new products. We make sure we are the first to get them onto our menus. We work in partnership with the leaders to create exciting limited time menus and create exciting campaigns to drive awareness around the latest and greatest innovation.
FLAVOUR.
All the other stuff is great, but if the food isn’t so delicious that you want to shout it from the rooftops, then it’s all pointless.
We created this brand as we wanted our perfect fast food menu, and that ethos is still true today. Being the best in flavour is the number one priority; constant development of current products and developing new menu items is key to keeping it fresh and exciting, cementing our position as the leaders of plant based fast food!
COMMUNITY.
We’re more than a fast food restaurant, we have a fantastic community that we connect with on a deeper level than most businesses. A community who are part of our journey, they believe in our mission and are our brand ambassadors, helping spread the word, to achieve our vision. Our community is very much part of our journey, giving us vital feedback and suggestions, helping us shape the future of Oowee Vegan!
